I am trying to run Vmware standalone converter to p2v a server 2008 physical server. The servers are domain joined. I have verified the user I am attempting to run converter as is a member of local admins on the server performing the conversion, and the server being converted. I have disabled UAC. I right-click vmware converter - run as administrator. I start a new conversion of a remote machine - enter local admin credentials - the agent installs on remote machine - when I click next I get the error 'Permission to perform this operation was denied'.

I have also tried with domain admin credentials. I have also tried running the converter from a workgroup computer.Any ideas?

Yes, I just converted about 50 VMs this past weekend, both CentOS 6/7 and Windows Server 2012 R2 VMs. Morgan wallen whiskey glasses audio. All running on a Hyper-V cluster. The converter is buggy as shit.

The best way I found to do it was to install the converter server on the Hyper-V host, converter client on my workstation, drop the Windows Firewall completely, power the VM off, then perform the conversion using the powered off/Hyper-V option, making sure to specify an IP/DNS for the helper VM - it would never grab DHCP properly, even though there is DHCP on that network and everything else grabs DHCP just fine. When I tried to do a standalone converter on the Hyper-V host, it never worked.
