-Welcome!This is a community focused on learning and improvement.Explore the wealth of and elsewhere before asking for help, do your own research. The T-Rack Classic is alright. You get the pretty standard versions of their Compressor, Limiter (multiband), Clipper, and EQ.The 670 & 76, plus 2A limiter also available to buy for T-Racks get higher grades in my book. The 670 and 76 are IK's versions of the FairChild 670 and the 1176 Compressors.

As pieces of hardware, they go for crazy prices. But some companies develop their own versions as plugins. All of them are kind of knockoff names since UAD is the only plugin company that is licensed by the original manufacturers.Waves also has the same sort of system. Their 670 Compressor is called the Puigchild 670. Their 1176 and 2A version comes in the Chris Lord Alge pack. It's CLA-2A and CLA-76But anyways thats sort of irrelevant. For $39.

Even their basic 4 plugins in T-Racks Classic is a good for that price. Generally speaking, a 3rd party plugin from a reputable company will usually be better than included plugins from most DAWs.If you have the money and were looking for a good middle of the line plugins. It's definitely worth the buy.I've used their Classic EQ. It does have the benefit of being a Left-Right/Mid-Side EQ which a lot of standard DAW included EQ's don't include.tl;dr.

If you have the money and want it. You probably won't be disappointedIf you're looking for decent mastering software. Thats kind of hard. True mastering is done in aSome extremely technical shit goes into mastering.

Thats why if you check the production notes on an album, you almost always won't see the name of the mixing engineer as the mastering engineer. Mixing is a complete different process. With DIY and software.

You can't truly master a track. But you can definitely add a final layer of polish to a track. The T-Rack software should be looked at more like mixing plugins, and not mastering plugins. If you want to do a good job on mastering, as much as you can do with software. If you can, you'll probably be better off getting a few really good plugin components. A good compressor, a good EQ (most likely two - linear phase and minimum phase), Stereo image plugin, noise removal plugins, a few others.Izotope Ozone is actually a pretty good bundle for this stuff.

The IK Multimedia Classic T-Racks Clipper is a plug-in that comes with the Mastering Suite software, but can be purchased as an individual plug-in if you don’t want the full T-Racks software. It comes as RTAS, VST, and AU plug-in formats, so pretty much everyone should be able to use this if they’d like to. I’ve really only used this plug-in in, although I do have it ready to go in my Pro Tools suite as well. As far as installing the plug-in goes, I can really only speak to installing as a whole, which was easy enough. The plug-in also has a simple interface, consisting of only a few parameters.

These parameters include those for gain, slope (ratio), and output. The plug-in also has stereo metering for both gain reduction and output level, as well as a bypass switch. It’s easy to tell that this is an easy plug-in to get acquainted with, so I don’t think users will need a manual.SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCEI’m currently running this plug-in on a Mac Book Pro that has a 2.2 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 4 GB of RAM. I haven’t really had any need to run this as an RTAS plug-in in Pro Tools LE 8 that I run as my main DAW, but I have used it a good amount within T-Racks 3 for mastering purposes.

I don’t know how well it will run as a plug-in in Pro Tools LE, but most of these T-Racks plug-ins do end up taking up a good amount of your processing power. As far as running it in T-Racks 3 is concerned, it really depends on your system as each is different.OVERALL OPINIONI can’t say that I’d recommend purchasing the IK Multimedia Classic T-Racks Clipper plug-in as an individual plug-in, but this doesn’t mean that it isn’t a worthwhile plug-in to use.

I just think that if you’re interested in this plug-in that you should purchase the full T-Racks 3 Mastering Suite, as the price per plug-in makes it well worth it to buy the full software. Plus, if you’re going to buy one of these T-Racks 3 plug-ins individually, I’d recommend going with one of the other ones any way. This is definitely more useful in a mastering setting rather than a mixing one, which is the reason I’ve only used it for this application.
