Petree College of Arts & Sciences Smokewood Institute for Young WritersJune 15The next Smokewood Institute event is our Day of Writing, and will take place on June 15, 2019. The event is an all-day Saturday series of lecture, discussion, and workshop of original student work.
Meals and materials are included. We welcome serious students working in any genre, of varying styles.Our programming is provided by college professors who teach creative writing. We also coordinate with the Red Earth MFA program, the Center for Interpersonal Studies in Film and Literature, and campus or community arts events.To be eligible, students should be in or entering high school, and a writing sample, as well as test scores and GPA, may be required. The 11-day camp experience is packed with over 70 hours of dance classes and rehearsals focusing on multiple dance techniques used in the entertainment industry.
