We have visited Universal and Islands of Adventure many times during previous Easter breaks, but this year was the busiest its ever been. Masses of people and horrendous queues and long, long waiting times.

On the first day of our visit the queues were truly awful, every ride we went to had exceptionally long waits. As an example we waited over 2 and a half hours to get on the Simpson ride. It was so disheartening to patiently stand in line as those with express passes are rushed through, as they obviously have preferential treatment. By the time we left, as we couldn't bear it anymore, the children had only been on two rides, but had been queuing for over four hours. We returned to the park the following week and gave in and bought express passes, which is something we have never needed before. However, this made the whole experience so much more enjoyable, with only minimal waiting involved. I think Universal should really consider some kind of return time allocation for the express passes, like Disney, to avoid such ridiculous queuing problems.

I recently picked up civ 6, was wondering if there was a 'best leader' for all the different victory conditions. More Show less. My family and I visited Universal Studios in April, 2009. I last visited in 1995. Although there are some excellent attractions, like 'The Simpsons' and 'Shrek in 4D,' and some interesting theming, I consider this park to be average at best.

Part of its problem is that its attractions really aren't all that exciting. My husband was disappointed in 'Terminator,' and we all agreed that 'Twister' was dull. The 'Jimmy Neutron' ride gave me motion sickness and it wasn't nearly as much fun as the old Hanna Barbera attraction. Another problem with Universal is that the park management has not figured out how to queue people like Disney. We'd see signs that said 15 minutes and ended up much longer than that.

Was listed as having a 25-minute wait and we got on the ride in 5 minutes. I also didn't like how Universal managed their character greetings. For some of the characters, you weren't allowed to take a picture of the character (ET) with your child and were expected to buy for the photo that the professional photographer took. Universal really needs to adopt a photo pass option like Disney.

I didn't have a bad visit, but I won't be making a stop at Universal the next time I'm in Florida. Just back from a family trip to Florida during their busiest time of the year Spring Break. With 12 of us in our family we wanted to get the best from the attractions so stayed away until things calmes down. When we eventuallyventured out we agreed to purchase the Express Pass which for our time of visit was $45 on top of the park entry. This seemed a little steep but after 6 visits to Florida I can say that I will never go to the parks without purchasing this add-on. It was so surreal to be walking straight onto Spiderman and Jurrasic Park, The Mummy, ET and the Simpsons just for starters.

In the past we have visited the parks at least 8 out of our 14 days and felt exhausted. For a little more money you really can do each park in a day and leave yourself time to discover and enjoy the other highlights of Florida. A trip to the Tamp downs racecourse is a great day out coupled with a basketball game at the Tropicana Stadium to watch the Tampa Rays Baseball game. Stayed a day at Univeral Studios during our Easter vacation. Had a one day, two parks pass, with Express Pluss pass. The Express pass allows you to skip the regular lines, and enter the ride with little or no waiting time. We did both parks on one day, and had a very nice day.

Both the Simpsons ride and the Mummy ride were great, and I recomand taking these. The queues at the resturants were not that long either, even though it was during the Easter.

The resturants was also very efficient. I think disney have alot to learn here! We did Universal studios first, and went over to Islands of Adventure, had dinner at Hard Rock Cafe at City Walk before we went back into Universal Studios for the evening parade! I can really recomand Universal studios, and will return here next time I am in Orlando! We had one day to spend at the Orlando parks and picked Universal Studios/Universal's Island of Adventures. We are two adults so it was very easy to see both parks in one day.

The EXPRESS pass is DEFINITELY the way to go - don't leave home without it! No crowds - we were on rides in 10 minutes - and rode multiple times because we got the VIP Express pass available only on the internet which allows unlimited use of the Express line instead of just one turn in the Express line per attraction. We had a Scream of a Good Time! Favorites: Simpsons & Spiderman & Terminator & Dueling Dragons -ride in the first chair & Incredible Hulk & Mummy & Men in Black. For lunch, skip the quickie park food - it's really bad, instead go over to the CityWalk area and eat at the Hard Rock - good food & really cool stuff inside - with the Express pass, you'll have plenty of time to enjoy a good lunch - stay away from Jimmy Buffet. Only regret: it's not the year 2010 so we didn't get to see the new Harry Potter attraction. Fast Passes are the way to go if you know it is peak time!!

This was my family's first visit to US and IOA. We had access for 7 days and got to see all the attractions more than once. We had fast passes our second day and they were well worth it!! We were able to zoom on and off whatever we wanted practically, this was good because it was spring break and packed to the gills.

However if you go early in the week while school is still in session the park was pleasantly way less packed, no fast passes needed (we got to enjoy this fact before coming the same day). These parks are nice and have rides for everyone and if you are a roller coaster fan there are three to choose from, The Mummy at US, The Hulk and Dueling Dragons-(the red side was my favorite it has an extra drop) are in IOA. We opted not to due the meal plan and we saved about 43 dollars by NOT getting it. My teens didn't want to eat big and ride rides.

The souvenir cups are worth refills at 79+ cents forever!!! The parks were clean and the staff was nice. There are however plenty of staff to get you to see a vacation plan for there resort at US, but they are not too pushy about it. All in all I would go back but this trip will last a while.
